Who is a candidate? Labia reduction (labiaplasty) plastic surgery involves surgically reducing and/or reshaping female external genital structures (labia). There are numerous reasons why more women are requesting this procedure. Some women seek labiaplasty to alleviate discomfort caused by large or thick labia, which can interfere with everyday activities and exercise or when wearing tight fitting clothes. Others find that large labia can cause discomfort or pain during intercourse.

Procedure description:
• The procedures are done on an outpatient basis.
• MAC (Monitored Anesthesia Care) is usually used for safety and comfort.
• Small incisions are made and excess skin is removed.

• Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.
• Bruising and swelling usually subside in 2-4 weeks. The final result takes shape over 2-3 months.
Insurance guidelines: This procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
