Who is a candidate? For patients that have had Skin Cancer Removal Surgery, most often on the face or head.

Procedure description: To minimize the risk of cancer recurrence, in Mohs Reconstruction, the surgeon uses serial sectioning and 3D tracing of the tumor. The lateral and deep margins of the tumor excision are examined to verify that the tumor is completely removed. This technique is most often used on skin cancers which lie in critical anatomic locations (around the eyes, ears, or nose), and for cancers large in size. Also Mohs is commonly used with recurrent cancers, aggressive and infiltrating cancer or morphea or sclerosing cancer types.
Recuperation and healing: The vast majority of patients go home immediately after the procedure. When performed in the outpatient surgery center under twilight anesthesia, you will be observed for approximately one hour after the procedure prior to being discharged with a companion.
Insurance guidelines: These operations are reconstructive and are almost always covered by insurance.
