Botox, by Allergan – Dr. Zienowicz has been designated by Allergan as one of the Top Injectors in the state, treating patients throughout Rhode Island, Providence, Boston, Newport and Southern Massachusetts

What is it: Botox is an approved treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines. Botox is also used to treat lower lid wrinkles, vertical lines on the upper lip, marionette lines and nasal “rardquo; or furrowing, and reduce the appearance of a “gummy” smile. Botox is derived from purified Botulinum toxin, which is injected to muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so it can no longer contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles. Botox may also be used to treat excessive perspiration, migraine headaches and the symptoms of Raynaud’s disease.

When is Botox recommended: Botox is recommended when developing fine lines and wrinkles result in a look of excessive aging and are no longer reduced or covered up with make up or other topical treatments.

Is Botox Safe: Botox is considered safe when used as directed. It is however strongly recommended that Botox injections be performed by or under the direction of a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist as insufficient injection experience or a poor injection can result in temporary facial paralysis.

How Long will Botox Last: Botox should last a minimum of 4-6 months following treatment.

What is the Botox Injection Process: Injections of botulinum toxin may seem like a simple procedure but it is actually both an art and science. There are 43 muscles in your face and it’s vital that the person who performs botulinum toxin injections understands and pinpoints the correct spots to optimize your treatment. Dr. Zienowicz at bodybyZ is a board certified surgeon with years of injection experience and a designated Top Injector status to demonstrate his ability to provide safe and effective Botox injections. Treatment usually take less than 15 minutes. Mild discomfort is expected during the injection process; however topical numbing cream makes this very tolerable for most patients.

What should I expect immediately after Botox treatment: You may experience little to mild swelling at the injection site and occasionally some mild bruising. You may resume normal activities immediately. Unlike fillers, do not rub or massage the treated area because it can cause the substance to migrate to other areas of the face.

Preparing for Botox treatment: As with most injectables, in order to avoid bruising, do not take ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxyn or any drug which increases bleeding for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment

Juvederm XC, by Allergan - Dr. Zienowicz has been designated by Allergan as one of the Top Injectors in the state, treating patients throughout Rhode Island, Providence, Boston, Newport and Southern Massachusetts

What is it: Juvederm is an injectable filler containing hyaluronic acid used to reduce facial wrinkles and lines. When this gel is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging. It also brings water to the surface of skin to keep it looking fresh and supple. Juvederm is the number one selling filler in the US. Juvederm filler add volume to different areas of the face to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, and to plump up lips. The results, when appropriately injected are natural looking and long lasting.

When is Juvederm recommended: Over time your skin loses elasticity and moisture, which contributes to lines and wrinkles that can no longer be covered with serums and creams. Age related volume loss throughout the cheeks is supplemented by the injection of Juvederm gel to the cheek area. Juvederm is recommended for lip fullness to achieve a desired result or combat the impact of aging, thinning lips.

Is Juvederm Safe: Generally, Juvederm is safe and negative reactions are rare. Dr. Zienowicz at bodybyZ is a board certified surgeon with years of injection experience and a designated Top Injector status to demonstrate his ability to provide safe and effective Juvederm injections.

BOTOX, Juvederm, and Kybella

If you are considering facial rejuvenation, there are many reasons to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Plastic surgeons perform surgical corrections that are longer-lasting than fillers and know what can be achieved with cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Zienowicz offers wrinkle fillers Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Radiesse® and Sculptra® as well as BOTOX® Cosmetic, which relaxes tiny facial muscles and eliminates deep frown lines. Kybella is the latest from innovator Allergan, the makers of Botox and Juvederm and is targetted to remove that under the chin fat.

Dr. Zienowicz has an innate talent for envisioning realistic outcomes from injectables for each patient. He performs injectables himself because he enjoys it. He doesn’t feel obliged to extend the indications for fillers when BOTOX is a better choice. Most people don’t realize that some of the areas that they want filled with Restylane, Juvéderm, Radiesse or Sculptra can be better-corrected with BOTOX.

Those areas include the crease between the eyebrows and marionette lines, or downturned corners of the mouth – areas where BOTOX Cosmetic can work on the muscles that cause the undesired deformity. At his Providence cosmetic surgery practice, Dr. Zienowicz and his staff devote three days a week to performing injectables. Both his peers and the industry recognize Dr. Zienowicz’s skill and experience with injectables. He was recently invited to be part of a national group testing the new product Cymetra® for lips.

Dr. Zienowicz offers several nonsurgical treatments to restore a youthful appearance. Wrinkle fillers and BOTOX Cosmetic are among your options.

Sculptra, by Galderma

What is it: As we age and our natural levels of Estrogen and Testosterone wane, we produce lower and lower levels of Collagen. Collagen is part of the connective tissue in the skin that creates firmness, suppleness and constant renewal of skins cells vital for our skin’s elasticity. Sculptra is a popular injectable used to add volume to areas of the face to create a soft, natural, more youthful recontouring of the face. Scultptra is different from topical treatments and other facial fillers because it works with your body to help revitalize the production of collagen, the natural substance that gives your skin resiliency, elasticity and shape. The result is a more youthful looking appearance that can last more than two years.

When is Sculptra recommended: Sculptra is recommended when the effects of aging are such that other injectable products alone will not provide the desired result for an overall fuller face impacted by many years of lost Collagen production. Sculptra offers this benefit because your own body is producing the necessary Collagen right for you across the fully treated area. Injectables such as Botox and Juvederm are wrinkle and line specific may often be used in conjunction with Botox and Juvederm to create the most subtle and natural result.

Is Sculptra Safe: Sculptra has been used in Europe since 1999. Sculptra is more difficult to inject than Botox or fillers like Restylane and Juvederm, so be sure your Sculptra injector is experienced. Dr. Zienowicz at bodybyZ is a board certified surgeon with years of injection experience and a designated Top Injector status to demonstrate his ability to provide safe and effective Sculptra injections.

How Long will Sculptra Last: Generally, you can expect Sculptra to last up to two years with an annual maintenance treatment. Full results should be expected from 45-90 days after initial treatment as your body builds your own Collagen.

What is the Sculptra Injection Process: While uncomfortable, Sculptra is not painful. Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Prior to your Sculptra injection, we will also apply a topical numbing cream to further reduce any discomfort.

What should I expect immediately after Sculptra treatment: You may experience mild to moderate swelling at the injection site and a little bit of bruising which is usually minimal.

Preparing for Sculptra treatment: As with most injectables, in order to avoid bruising, do not take ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxyn or any drug which increases bleeding for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.

While Sculptra can make up for years of reduced Collagen production, there are other healthy steps that can be taken to support long-lasting Sculptra results such as:

  • Lifestyle Choices - smoking, too much sun, not enough hydration and poor diet choices will destroy the benefits of Collagen
  • Important Supplements such as Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin D, Calcium and Vitamin C
  • Exercise – keeping muscles developed to reduce bone density loss

Dr. Zienowicz is a top Sculptra injector for patients seeking a natural and youthful appearance throughout Rhode Island, Providence, Boston and Southern New England.
