Botox treatments

W

ith regular Botox injections, you can eliminate severe frown lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet across many areas of your face.

What is Botox?

Botox is an approved treatment to smooth the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines. Botox is also used to treat lower lid wrinkles, vertical lines on the upper lip, marionette lines and nasal or furrowing and to reduce the appearance of a “gummy” smile.

Botox is derived from purified Botulinum toxin, which is injected into muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so it can no longer contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles. Botox may also be used to treat excessive perspiration, migraine headaches and the symptoms of Raynaud’s disease.

When is Botox recommended?

Botox is recommended when developing fine lines and wrinkles which result in a look of excessive aging and are no longer reduced or covered up with makeup or other topical treatments.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is considered safe when used as directed. It is however strongly recommended that Botox injections are performed by or under the direction of a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist as insufficient injection experience or a poor injection can result in temporary facial paralysis.

How long do treatments take?

Treatments usually take less than 15 minutes.

How long will Botox last?

Botox should last a minimum of 4-6 months following treatment.

What is the Botox injection process?

Botox injections combine both art and intricate science to pinpoint the areas that need improvement throughout the 43 muscles in your face. It takes a very skilled hand to correctly administer Botox, and optimize your treatment. Fortunately, Dr. Zienowicz at bodybyZ in Providence is a board-certified surgeon with years of injection experience and a designated “Top Injector” status.

Is there pain during the treatment?

There is mild discomfort during a Botox procedure. However topical numbing cream makes this very tolerable for most patients.

What should I expect immediately after Botox treatment?

You may experience little to mild swelling at the injection site and occasionally some mild bruising. You may resume normal activities immediately. Unlike fillers, do not rub or massage the treated area because it can cause the substance to migrate to other areas of the face.

Preparing for Botox Treatment

As with most injectables, in order to avoid bruising, do not take ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen or any drug which increases bleeding for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.
